Free Photoshop Alternatives

For those interested in Graphic Design, it can be very hard to get into it due to the main software being used, Adobe Photoshop, is rather expensive and not in the cards for everyone. However, there are free alternatives that can manage to do many of the same things that Photoshop does. I've compiled a short list of some of the best free graphic design programs that offer you a chance to get one step closer to AdobePhotoshop quality.

Photopea is the one I myself use for projects. It's a free, online program that allows you to edit photos with ease. It has a wide variety of supported files, including gifs and PSDs. In addition to that, you can download your own fonts (1001fonts has fantastic options). If you're finding Photopea difficult to use, check out their support board. Photopea is most likely the best option if you are on a Chromebook.

Pixlr Editor is another good alternative, though not the best on this list. It has a fairly simple, user-friendly interface and is great for small tweaks you need made. However, ads take up a lot of the page and often lag it. Additionally, you can also use Pixlr X. Though not the best program, you can make brightness changes, add another layer, and do really simple things you might need done.

GIMP, possibly the most well known alternative, is great. It offers you many of the options Photoshop offers you, is fairly easy to get the hang of, and is overall the best option for a Photoshop alternative. Unfortunately for you Chromebook users, you'll have to download Linux or something similar in order for GIMP to work on your computer.
